Limpopo man attacked, killed by lions

Police in Hoedspruit near Phalaborwa have opened an inquest docket after a man was mauled to death by lions.

Limpopo police said that the 46-year-old was driving a tractor which got stuck a few metres before he reached his compound. 

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, said that while walking back to his compound he was attacked by lions.

Colonel Ngoepe the lions were scared off by gunshots.
