Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for the gunman who killed a well-known Limpopo lawyer in his Mokopane home.
Spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the motive for the murder of 69-year-old Schalk Pienaar on Monday night will form part of the investigation.
He said Pienaar and his wife were at home when an intruder opened fire on him, hitting him several times as he tried to run back into the house.
"Several spent cartridges and projectiles were found in front of and inside the garage," he said.
Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe said the perpetrator must be hunted down and brought to book.
Meanwhile, the Freedom Front Plus said it was shocked at Pienaar's murder.
The party's provincial leader, Marcelle Maritz, said she had been friends with him for many years and that the shooting occurred a block from her own home.
