A Limpopo lawyer, who allegedly killed his four children with an axe, appeared in the Praktiseer magistrate's court on Friday.
Senyatsi Lucas Phasha brought a bail application, based on new facts, but the court rejected his application.
It ruled that the accused could not show that exceptional circumstances existed to justify his release.
Phasha allegedly killed his four children, aged between three and nine, after accusing his wife of cheating.
Before the murders, he had posted a series of tirades on Facebook, blaming his wife for cheating on him and in the process infecting him with HIV and warned that she would never see the children, Katlego (9), Joyce, (7) Tshepo (5) and Adel (3) again.
Phasha wrote: "I am very angry at her, her friends and her lovers". He also posted a picture of his wife and wrote: "HIV positive, pregnant, sleeping with men".
The case was transferred to the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane for trial from 7- 9 September.
