Police in Limpopo are searching for two farm workers believed to have been involved in the murder of a farmer in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the 68-year-old MG Richter was killed on his farm at Dwaalboom outside Thabazimbi when unknown suspects entered their house at 2 am.
He says the farmer's wife was injured when the suspects burned her with an unknown object.
Brigadier Mojapelo says after the murder the suspects ransacked the house before fleeing in the couple's VW Amarok that was filled with stolen goods including a Plasma TV and five firearms, including a toy gun, phones and tools.
He says police received information about the vehicle around the Bela Bela area and members ordered the driver to pull off.
The suspects allegedly started to shoot at police and a shootout ensued.
One suspect was shot dead and another was injured and arrested.
Mojapelo says two other suspects are known to police and believed to have been employed by the victim.
A case of murder, attempted murder and house robbery is under investigation.
