A lawyer who represented suspects in one of the biggest perlemoen poaching syndicates in the Western Cape has been arrested on similar charges.
Anthony Broadway was arrested in Bellville on Tuesday on charges relating to racketeering, money-laundering, fraud and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
He made a brief court appearance and was granted bail of R250 000.
Broadway is expected to share the dock in the Western Cape High Court later on Friday with alleged poaching kingpin Frank Barends and 25 others, for pre-trial proceedings.
Chinese national Ran Wei, who allegedly funded and ran the syndicate, is still missing.
