The founder of South Africa's legendary music group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has died.
According to Channel24, Joseph Shabalala, 78, died at Life Eugene Marais Hospital on Tuesday morning. The musician underwent back surgery in 2012, and it was reported that earlier this year, he was admitted to hospital.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo are a South African male choral group, and have performed on international stages with the likes of Paul Simon.
They have won a number of awards including five Grammy Awards, dedicating their fifth award to the late former President Nelson Mandela.
Shabalala officially handed over the leadership of the group to his son Sibongiseni.
