Durban police are investigating the murder of a local drug-lord and the beheading of two men who were believed to be the shooters.
The grisly drama played out at the Shallcross home of a known drug dealer, Yaganathan Pillay, also known as Teddy Mafia, on Monday afternoon.
KZN police spokesperson, Brigadier Jay Naicker, said it was alleged that Pillay had told his daughter that he was expecting visitors to his Taurus Street home
“Upon the arrival of the suspects at their home, the daughter proceeded to the back of their property where she heard gunshots. The daughter then established that her father had been shot,” he said.
Naicker said members of the local community then apprehended both suspects and set them alight before beheading both of them.
“When police officers arrived at the scene the community opened fire at them. Police called in the Public Order Policing Unit who dispersed the crowd with no injuries,” he said.
Naicker said Pillay died in hospital.
