King Goodwill Zwelithini, monarch of the isiZulu nation, has passed away.
In a statement, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi said the 72-year-old king passed away in hospital.
"His Majesty’s health took a turn for the worse and he subsequently passed away in the early hours of this morning," said Buthelezi in a statement on Friday morning.
He thanked the nation on behalf of the family for their continued prayers and support during this difficult time.
According to Wikipedia, the King leaves behind six wives and 28 children.
