The case of the 16-year-old teenager from Kimberly accused of fiercely beheading a 17-year-old in Pampierstad has been postponed to next Monday.
The hearing was held in camera on Wednesday in the absence of the accused as he had been admitted to a hospital for medical evaluation.
It is alleged that he beheaded the victim, then disposed of the body by throwing it in a ditch.
The victim's head was later found in a shack of a relative of the accused.
Northern Cape Regional Spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane said the prosecution has indicated that it will be opposing bail given the seriousness of the charges.
The case has been postponed to the 21st of September for further investigation.
The accused remains in custody and will return to the Juvenile Section of the Kimberly Prison once he is discharged from hospital.
