Two police officers attached to the Roodepan police station in Kimberley have been arrested alongside a civilian after a tuckshop was robbed on Saturday night.

Spokesperson Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba says it is alleged that one of the two officers was still in his police uniform when the robbery took place.

The trio stole an undisclosed amount of money as well as 25 cartons of cigarettes.
Ramatseba says the two officers were arrested at work on Sunday and the civilian was arrested at his house in Roodepan.

A large sum of cash, believed to have been stolen from the tuckshop, was found in the civilian's possession.

The Northern Cape Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Risimati Peter Shivuri strongly condemned the involvement of two of his officers.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate's Court soon.
