A 30-year-old man who kidnapped a 16-month-old baby boy has been arrested in Heidelberg in the Western Cape.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Potjie, said an integrated multi-disciplinary team nabbed the suspect in a shack in Dollo Squire in the early hours of Wednesday morning following an extensive two-day search.
He said the toddler was found inside a concealed compartment in the shack and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for medical assessment.
Pojie said the baby had minor bruises on his body and feet.
The suspect is expected to appear in Heidelberg magistrates’ court on Friday on a charge of Kidnapping and the possibility that more charges might be added is not excluded.
