K-word lands Gauteng woman in court

A 55-year-old Gauteng woman appeared in court on Friday on a charge of crimen injuria for allegedly using the K-word following an accident.

The National Prosecuting Authority said Suzette Oosthuizen appeared in the Roodepoort District Court on charges that included assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.

The incident reportedly happened this week and she was arrested on Thursday.

NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, said Oosthuizen’s arrest came after a video circulated on social in which she purportedly uses offensive language, including the K-word, towards another motorist.

She was granted bail of R500 and the case postponed to 17 June for further investigation.
