Three suspects charged with the brutal murder of award-winning MC and LGBTQI+ community activist, Sam Mbatha, will know their fate on Thursday.
The case against Arthur Khoza, Mahlatsi Nkuna, and Thato Mosetla, was postponed on Tuesday for judgment.
The three are facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping, murder, malicious damage to property, and defeating the ends of justice.
They were arrested in June 2021 for the gruesome murder of the 24-year-old Mbatha, whose charred remains were found in a burnt-out vehicle in Potchefstroom in June 2021.
His identity was only determined through DNA testing.
The National Prosecuting Authority said three were arrested on 21 June 2021, at a house in the Phutha section near Klipgat, where police found bloodstains on the floor, on a bed as well as a carpet.
NPA spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, said Mosetla was denied bail last July, while Khoza and Nkuna are out on R500 bail each.
