A Gauteng policeman has been arrested for the murder of a Johannesburg metro police officer in June.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said Constable Bongimpilo Bengu from the Parkview visible policing unit was arrested on Tuesday and made a brief court appearance in the magistrate's court.
IPID spokesperson, Robbie Raburabu, said he was granted bail of R5000.
Bengu was charged with the murder of Sibusiso Zikalala who was shot in front of his wife outside a Braamfontein nightclub following an altercation between the two men.
The incident was captured on video and widely circulated on social media with Zikalala's family later appealing to the public to stop sharing the footage.
Rabubabu said the case against Bengu was postponed to 25 January next year.
