Ntuthuko Shoba (32) has been found guilty of the murder of Tshegofatso Pule, the heavily pregnant mother of his unborn child.
Judge Stuart Wilson found Shoba's evidence to be unconvincing as he handed down judgement in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg on Friday.
A large crowd of activists against gender-based violence celebrated outside court moments after the news of Shoba's fate filtered through to them.
Judge Wilson found that Shoba, a former JSE analyst, had colluded with the hired hitman Muzikayise Malepane to murder Pule.
The matter was postponed to the 10th of May for sentencing proceedings to commence and Shoba will remain in custody.
Dressed in a smart black suit, Shoba's emotions were hard to read when Judge Wilson handed down his verdict.
Pule, a 28-year-old beautician, was murdered on the 4th of June 2020.
The hitman, Malephane, was arrested two weeks later and during his trial, he entered into a plea agreement with the State.
Malephane is serving 20-years for his role in Pule's murder.
