A Johannesburg Metro Police officer has been jailed for 18 years for killing a man during a 2019 road-rage incident.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said Bongani Silence Baloyi, was convicted and sentenced in the South Gauteng High Court on Monday.

Spokesperson, Ndileka Cola, said Baloyi was convicted of premeditated murder as well as three counts of attempted murder.

She said both sentences would run concurrently.

Cola said IPID “accepts the sentence” handed down on Baloyi for shooting and killing a motorist, Seja Nkwana, following a traffic altercation in Honeydew in October 2019.
