The Independent Police Investigative Directorate says it will arrest eight members of the police's VIP Protection Services on Sunday.
This, after a video went viral on social media showing members of Deputy President Paul Mashatile's motorcade allegedly assaulting three civilians on the N1 at Fourways in Johannesburg earlier this month.
The video has caused an outcry across the country, with various organizations offering their assistance for criminal and civil cases against the members of the Presidential Protection Unit.
IPID spokesperson, Robbie Raburabu says their investigators will be processing the suspects at the Sandton Police station following authorization by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He says the eight members will be held in custody until their appearance in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.
