The Independent Police Investigative Directorate says its investigating 110 cases against police members in the Eastern Cape.
IPID chief executive officer, Francois Beukman, says 90 cases are now with the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision.
Beukman was speaking in East London yesterday where the IPID is holding a two-day seminar on systemic corruption in the SA Police Service.
He says the IPID Act focuses the investigative mandate of the Directorate on several key matters, that include any deaths in police custody and deaths as a result of police actions; rape by police or of persons in police custoday and corruption among others.
