Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane will lead the inter-ministerial inquiry into the shooting at Marikana that left 34 miners dead.
The presidency says the members of the inquiry will include North West premier Thandi Modise, several cabinet ministers and Police Minister, Nathi Mthetwa.
Presidential spokesperson, Mac Maharaj, says the terms of reference and commission of a separate, judicial commission of inquiry will be announced in the next few days.
He says the commission will visit Marikana on MOnday to co-ordinate and lead all support to families and relatives including the identification of family members, counselling and burials.
In addition, president Zuma has declared this week a week of mourning.
Flags will fly at half mast until Saturday.
Memorial services will be held country-wide on Thursday.
