Gauteng police said an inquest docket has been opened following the death of convicted drug dealer, Glenn Agliotti.
Police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, confirmed his passing on Saturday at the age of 64.
He said an inquest docket was opened at the Douglasdale Police Station and that a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Agliotti was convicted in 2006 of drug smuggling and given a suspended sentence and also testified later against former police commissioner, Jackie Selebi, admitting to giving him bribes.
He also made bombshell admissions before the Zondo Commission of Enquiry into State Capture where he revealed widespread bribery of government officials and some ministers in exchange for government tenders.
Agliotti was also the main suspect in the murder of mining magnate, Brett Kebble, but was acquitted of the charges.
