Infant fatally injured during assault on her mother

A 24-year-old man is expected to appear in the Giyani Magistrates Court in Limpopo on Thursday for allegedly killing a seven-month-old baby.

A police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspect, on Monday, argued with his neighbours, about their children, and went back to his house to fetch a pick handle.

He says the suspect assaulted the mother who was holding her baby.

The infant was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The suspect is facing a charge of murder.
