An immigration officer has appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on a charge of corruption.
The Hawks said 37-year-old Edmond Lekgothwane, was arrested on Friday for trying to solicit a R7 000 bribe from a Bangladeshi businessman.
It was established that the man's asylum had not expired as claimed by the immigration officer who was promptly arrested.
He was granted bail of a thousand rand and his case postponed to the 25th of July for final investigations.
