A fire in the Kennedy Road informal settlement in Durban destroyed 300 houses and left hundreds of residents homeless on Tuesday evening, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the cause of the fire, which started before 7pm, was still unknown.
"There were two people injured. They sustained relatively minor injuries. Both were injured while trying to get their belongings from their houses."
