ANC leaders formed a united front in Johannesburg Tuesday as they condemned what they described as the "shockingly crude, disrespectful and un-ANC" remarks recently made by some within the party.
Secretary general Gwede Mantashe told reporters that the brazen and often rude rhetoric detracts from real issues facing the youth and does nothing to add value to the integrity of the ANC and its leagues.
Mantashe was joined by President Jacob Zuma, his deputy Kgalema Motlanthe, treasurer Mathews Phosa, national chairwoman Baleka Mbete and deputy secretary general Thandi Modise.
Mantashe said charges were forthcoming against the youth league in Cape Town after they disrupted President Zuma during an ANC briefing in February.
