The five suspects accused of kidnapping and murdering the Brand family on their smallholding outside Hartswater in the Northern Cape earlier this week appeared in the local Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The four men and one woman between the ages of 19 and 42 face three charges of murder, kidnapping, and robbery.
The family was abducted from their house on Sunday and both their vehicles were stolen.
Three suspects who were spotted driving one of the stolen vehicles were arrested.
Police found the body of 50-year-old Elzabie and her parents, the 83-year-old Danie Brand and his 73-year-old wife Breggie were found a day later, close-by in a field in the Takaneng Village in Taung.
The other two suspects were arrested later in the day following further investigations after the arrests.
The five accused, Tshepho Visagie, Donald Seoleseng, Tshepaone Melato, Kgomotso Mpulwana en Realeboga Manyedi will remain in custody until their next appearance on the 13th of August.
Hundreds of community members gathered outside the Court on Thursday to oppose bail.
