A 55-year-old man from Durban was killed in a freak accident on Sunday whilst gardening.
During lunchtime, members of the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to an accident scene in the suburb of Ottowa and were informed that a man was trapped under a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they saw a white Toyota Corolla that veered off the road.
RUSA says a 68-year-old female driver smashed through the boundary wall killing the homeowner who was busy pruning his plants in the garden.
Officers assisted the driver, who informed them that she had blacked out before losing control.
The homeowner was declared dead on the scene, and the driver was treated for her injuries.
Police have opened up a case of culpable homicide.
The exact cause of the accident will form part of their investigation.
The name of the victim is not yet known.
