A 33-year-old man will make his first court appearance in Henneman in the Free State on Thursday after he allegedly shot and wounded a couple on a farm in the district.
A police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele say the suspect, who is a local herdsman, allegedly entered a farmhouse late on Saturday night where the victims were visiting with friends.
He says the suspect and an accomplice just started shooting.
A 60-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to her chest and knee while her 62-year-old husband was shot twice in the legs.
Brigadier Makhele says the owners of the farm were not injured and the suspects fled with only two cellphones.
He says on Tuesday police received a tip-off and found the suspect hiding on a farm near Henneman.
His accomplice is still at large.
The herdsman is facing a charge of house robbery and two of attempted murder.
