The Hawks are searching for 34-year-old Gerhard Olivier who allegedly swindled R18.4m from unsuspecting victims in a farm investment scheme dating back to 2010.
Spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said he allegedly conned potential investors into purchasing farm equipment and feed in return for a fee.
However, she said instead of using the money for the intended purpose, he is alleged to have disappeared with it.
“Investigations revealed that approximately R600 000 was allegedly deposited into his personal account and this amount was withdrawn from this account on 01 April 2010,” she said.
Mogale said Olivier is also accused of deceiving members of a farming co-op by falsely representing himself as a wealthy farm owner and promising to provide them with resources.
A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Malmesbury Magistrate Court in June last year.
Any person with information which may lead to his arrest is urged to contact the Hawks.
