Hawks search for man after woman fleeced out of R2 million

The Hawks in North West are searching for a man they said was a person of interest in a matter where a woman was fleeced out of R2 million.

Police spokesperson, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso, said the matter is being investigated by the Hawks in the province.

"The man is a person of interest in a reported case where a 54-year-old female victim was allegedly scammed (out) of over R2 million rand of her pension pay-out between May and August 2022," he said.

Rikhotso said the woman met the man through the "Badoo online dating site".

"Any person with information is requested to contact the investigating officer Lt Colonel Morné Grobler 082 334 8667."
