A 52-year-old Captain with the Hawks is due to appear in court tomorrow for allegedly demanding gratification from a person she tied to dupe out of R250 000.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the female captain faces a charge of corruption following an incident on 10 December.
He said it's alleged that the Hawks Captain in Pretoria allegedly approached the complainant and informed him that there were fraudulent activities happening on his bank account and that she is going to freeze his bank accounts.
She then demanded a gratification of R250 000-00 in exchange for this not happening.
"The matter was reported to the Police who then commenced with the investigation," Mojapelo said.
He said a sting operation was conducted at Bela Bela whereby the alleged suspect was arrested after receiving the money from the complainant.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Monday 19 December 2022 facing a charge of corruption.
