Three suspects wanted for a cash-in-transit robbery in Kwazulu Natal are expected to appear in court on Monday following their arrest on Saturday.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Bonnie Nxumalo, said the arrests were made by members of their Tracking Team, the National Intervention Unit, Crime Intelligence and Tactical Response Team.
She said they were also assisted by a private security company in the operation.
Nxumalo said police investigators received a tip-off that the suspects were driving in Phoenix in Durban in a Lexus sedan.
She said the suspects were cornered in Rainham where police recovered an undisclosed amount of cash, SAPS reflector jacket, a police uniform with a Constable’s rank, as well as a police radio and masks.
Nxumalo said police also seized a money counting machine, blue overalls, police blue lights, and high calibre magazine loaded with rounds of ammunition.
“Two of the arrested suspects are out on parole on cash-in-transit cases. The investigation to positively link the suspects to other cash-in-transit heists is continuing,” she said.
