GUILTY: Jason Rohde killed his wife Susan and made it look like a suicide

Former Sotheby's boss Jason Rohde has been found guilty of the murder of his wife Susan in 2016. Rhode staged the murder scene to look like a suicide.

Judgment was handed down in the Western Cape High Court on Thursday.

Judge Gayaat Sali-Hlophe said in her Judgement that she found the evidence of the State's witnesses highly credible.

In a blow to the case of the Defence, she ruled that the testimony of Rohde was highly improbable.

Rohde strangled his wife Susan to death in their hotel room at the Spier Wine Estate on the 24th of July 2016.

He then staged the scene to look like a suicide and wrapped an electronic cord around her neck, before hanging his wife's lifeless body from a hook behind the bathroom door.

Sali-Hlophe said Rhode staged the scene like a "play" getting several actors to play the roles in his scene.

She said Rohde intended to kill his wife and found him guilty on both charges against him.

Bail was withdrawn and Rohde was handcuffed before being led down to the holding cells below the courtroom.

The case was remanded until the 21st of November for presentencing proceedings.
