Sentencing proceedings of the minor found guilty of the triple murder of Deon, Christel and Marthella Steenkamp on their Griekwastad farm Naauwhoek in April 2012 are scheduled to get underway in the Northern Cape High Court in Kimberley on Tuesday.
Judge Frans Kgomo found the 17-year old boy guilty on March 27 of three counts of murder, one of rape and one of defeating the ends of justice. The boy was fifteen when the crimes were committed.
The case was postponed to today to allow time for a pre-sentencing report to be compiled, as necessitated by the child justice act due to the fact that the boy is still a minor.
His bail was rescinded as soon as Kgomo handed down the guilty verdict, and the judge later refused an application to have the bail reinstated until after sentencing.
The boy was held in custody at the juvenile section of the Kimberley Prison.
