Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille says the department will repair the fence at the Beitbridge border.
The Border separates South Africa from Zimbabwe.
The move by de Lille comes after a pronouncement by President Cyril Ramaphosa that some of the country's ports, should be secured immediately.
While several borders to South Africa was closed, Beitbridge is considered the gateway to the rest of Africa and is one of the borders to remain open.
De Lille says the fence, stretching over 40 km, will now be repaired at a cost of R37 million and should be completed within a month.
