Gauteng police dog sniffs out drugs hidden in statue

Supplied

Gauteng police have intercepted a consignment of drugs worth millions of rand and arrested four suspects on the West Rand before it could be shipped to Australia.

Spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubele says K9 sniffer dog "Buddy" reacted positively to drugs hidden in a statue.

He says it contained 22kg of concealed crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R6.5-million.

The four suspects were arrested at the scene and charged with possession of drugs.

They are expected to appear in court soon.
