Six Bloemfontein traffic officials reportedly belonging to a massive cross-provincial syndicate accused of rampant fraud and corruption were arrested on Wednesday.
Hawks Free State spokesperson Lynda Steyn says the arrests form part of a larger, countrywide operation which started in 2019, and in which 15 people were arrested overall in the Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Gauteng and the Free State.
Steyn says the accused include several admin clerks, a police officer and driving school owners/administrators across the four provinces.
The syndicate operated out of the Lengau Traffic and Testing centre in Bloemfontein.
