KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating the circumstances that led to the collapse of a wall which fell on five workers at a construction site on Zen Drive in Ballito on Saturday.
Spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda says according to information, 14 construction workers were at the bottom of the escarpment building when a retaining wall collapsed and buried five workers underneath.
He says their Search and Rescue team, working with other private entities, managed to pull all five out.
Four of them were declared dead at the scene.
Netshiunda says one worker was found alive, approximately six hours after the collapse of the wall.
Police have opened inquest dockets.
