Four arrested for CT garage murder

A tip-off from the public has led to the arrest of four suspects for the murder of a man who shot to death in his car at a garage in Kenilworth in Cape Town.

Western Cape police said the 46-year-old man was shot dead at about 6.45pm on Saturday evening while he was sitting in his blue BMW.

Police spokesperson, Lieutentant-Colonel Andrè Traut said a member of the public followed the suspects getaway vehicle and alerted police who immediately responded.

He said a high speed pursuit, during which shots were exchanged between police and the suspects, ended in Jakes Gerwel Drive in Goodwood where the men, aged 20, 25, 29, and 35, were arrested.

Two unlicensed 9mm pistols, believed to be the murder weapons, were confiscated. Investigations revealed that the getaway vehicle was hijacked in Kleinvlei.

Traut said that the possibility that the incident was gang-related could not be ruled out and the circumstances surrounding the matter were under police investigation.
