Four men accused of embezzling funds from an Mpumalanga municipality have appeared in the Secunda Magistrate's Court.
Hawks spokesperson, Paul Ramaloko, says the four had managed to withdraw over R2m each from the municipality's accounts and were poised to withdraw another R39m before they were arrested.
Seven members of a syndicate who allegedly defrauded Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality of R19.7 million appeared in the Commercial Crimes Court on Monday.
An eighth accused, Sipho Msomi, has already pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in jail.
Two of the seven were also implicated with two other people in a similar hi-tech scam at the Koukamma Municipality.
