he former rugby player accused of conspiring to kill Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear is now also linked to the attempted murder of well known Cape Town attorney, William Booth.
Five shots were fired at Booth’s residence on the 9th of April this year and four suspects have since been arrested.
The 39-year-old Zane Killian allegedly pinged the phones of both Kinnear and Booth.
He appeared briefly in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday where he was additionally charged with fraud.
Lieutenant Colonel Philani Nkwalase says as part of Killian's bid for bail, he submitted a security certificate in an attempt to justify why he pinged the phones.
Nkwalase says that according to the Hawks, the document was fraudulent.
Killian remains in custody and the matter was postponed to the 27th of November for his bail hearing to continue.
The 52-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear, who worked for the anti-gang unit in Cape Town, was gunned down outside his home in Bishop Lavis in September.
Killian is the only suspect who has been arrested so far for Kinnear's murder.
