The 70-year-old Andre van Biljon who was attacked on his smallholding over the weekend in Oranjeville has died.
Van Biljon is the father of former Springbok hooker, 47-year-old Lukas van Biljon who was also stabbed multiple times during the attack.
On Saturday shortly after midnight, six armed men attacked and robbed the family before shooting Andre and stabbing Lukas with a knife.
Police spokesperson, Captain Lorraine Earle says the van Biljon children were also tied up during the ordeal.
She says a charge of attempted murder and murder is now under investigation.
The suspects fled with a Range Rover that was recovered in town and jumped into a Toyota Camry when they spotted police.
Captain Earle says two of the suspects were eventually stopped at a roadblock in Viljoensdrift.
Thirty-two-year-old Khanye Muthi and 42-year-old Latin Mofokeng already appeared in the Heilbron Magistrates Court where the case was postponed to the 5th of June.
Four suspects remain at large.
