A flight from Durban to Johannesburg on Friday morning was grounded after technicians preparing the plane for departure, found a human foetus in the waste management system.
Police are now investigating.
"Our flight SA 411 was scheduled to depart from Durban this morning for Johannesburg. The scheduled departure time was 06.15, said FlySafair's, Kirby Gordon.
"We had begun boarding all of the passengers in preparation for the departure. One of the basic services that we do before a flight departs is of-course to clean out the waste management system so that gets drained," he added.
"During the process of draining, the technician, who is situated outside the aircraft came across what appeared to him to be a human foetus. Given the nature of that, he obviously immediately halted those procedures and we alerted South African Police Services who then took over from that perspective".
Gordon said the passengers disembarked from the plane and were accommodated on other flights to Johannesburg.
KZN police said that a case of concealment of birth is under investigation.
