Five men have been killed in a hail of bullets and set alight in Philippi East in Cape Town.
Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said reports from the scene indicate the victims were sitting in a vehicle in the Better Life area on Friday night when four armed suspects approached and shot them.
Detectives from the provincial serious violent crime unit were on Saturday morning still combing the scene where the gruesome incident took place.
Brigadier Potelwa said the deceased victims' identities were yet to be determined but that their estimated ages were between 20 and 30.
She said the police were still investigating the motive behind the killings.
Brigadier Potelwa said anyone with information that could assist the police investigation is urged to contact Captain Andre Lotter on 079 894 1547.
