A man has died after falling into the water while fishing at the Umdloti north beach on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.
Paramedics say the 20-year-old man was fishing with a friend yesterday when one of them hooked a large fish.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says the man went to grab the line but fell into the water and was washed out to sea.
The friend dived in to rescue him but also got into difficulty.
A bystander pulled both men out the water and tried to resuscitate the 20-year-old.
He was declared dead on the scene.
