Fires cause death and destruction across South Africa

Three boys died when a fire broke out in a shelter for destitute children in Hartbeespoort Dam west of Pretoria.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Thulani Ngubane, says the three boys aged between seven and 14 years, were inside the building at the time of the blaze.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
In another incident, an 86-year-old woman was killed in a fire at a Kleinmond retirement home in the Western Cape.
The fire broke out in Sophia Rautenbach's flat at the Gerimed Private Home for the Aged on Wednesday afternoon.
Gerimed co-owner Carel Pieterse has told the Cape Times that eight of 26 flats were badly damaged but they managed to evacuate 32 occupants quickly.
In yet another incident, fire-fighters were still monitoring the scene after a fire broke out in the Isidingo studio at the SABC in Auckland Park.
Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Niel Rooi says the fire started at studio six last night and at one stage, fire-fighters were not able to contain the blaze.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Isidingo is a soapie that plays on SABC3 on weekdays.
