Polokwane police have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who allegedly broke into a security company premises stole 18 firearms.
Police said the incident took place between the night of 26 December and the early hours of Sunday.
“It is believed that the suspects forced opened the door with an unknown object to gain entry into the premises,” said spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo
He said they opened the safe and stole the firearms, ammunition, and a computer.
Mojapelo said the investigation will include a probe into whether or not these firearms were kept in accordance with the provisions governing the safekeeping of firearms.
He said a case of burglary is under investigation.
