The National Prosecuting Authority has welcomed the sentence of 12 years direct imprisonment for theft of R1.2 million rand imposed on a Gauteng financial adviser.
NPA spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, says the 52-year-old woman worked at Accredinet and also provided outside services.
She said the accused was convicted on the 15th of December 2021, and sentenced on Thursday.
The Director of Public Prosecutions Adv. Sibongile Mzinyathi says he hopes the sentence will send a strong message that crimes of theft, corruption, and fraud will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted.
Algoa FM News apologises unreservedly for identifying the complainant, Idalette de Witt, as the accused in the matter in the initial. The story has been updated and the error is regretted.
