A female police Captain from Welkom in the Free State was granted bail of R2000 after appearing in court for allegedly assaulting her policeman husband.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said Mariam Makume, who is stationed at Welkom SAPS Garage was arrested following the incident at their home in Bedelia on Monday.
Spokesperson, Grace Langa, said she had returned home from work “and started swearing at the husband and assaulting him.”
“It is alleged she further went and bang her husband's head several times against the headboard. The 41-year-old victim, who is the husband of the suspect and a police Sergeant as well, sustained serious injuries,” she said.
Langa said 41-year-old Makume was granted bail on Wednesday on the condition that she stay at another address.
