A 44-year-old policewoman has been arrested for the murder of her husband who died in hospital after being shot several times.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate says the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Akasia, north of Pretoria.
IPID spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping said police received a report of a commotion between the female Sergeant and her husband.
He said according to information the husband removed her official firearm from her handbag and pointed it at her.
Shuping said the female Sergeant tried to grab the firearm and during a scuffle several shots went off, hitting the husband.
He said the husband sustained four gunshot wounds and died in hospital.
The officer will appear in court soon.
