A female police officer from Kwazulu Natal has been granted bail of R3000 after appearing in court on Tuesday for allegedly shooting her boyfriend.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate says the incident occurred on Sunday.
"It is alleged that the Officer had an argument with her partner after she found a receipt for condoms in his trousers," said IPID's Lizzy Suping.
She said the confrontation led to the fatal shooting in which the officer's official firearm was used.
Suping said that the officer, who was stationed at the Durban Harbour Police, handed herself to the police after the incident.
She'll be back in court again on 10 October.
